At our Team Service on 30th. December, Derek Pamment surprised many of us by making this announcement about the next step along his path to becoming ordained.
As many of you will be aware, I have been training for non-stipendiary ministry for the past three years and will be ordained Deacon in June next year. I would ask that you hold both Lynne  and I in your prayers during the next few months.

The next stage as a non-stipendiary minister is  for me to move into a curacy. In conjunction with the Diocese and the Bishop of Stafford it has been agreed that I will serve this next stage of this formation and training at Trentham Parish Church.

Both Lynne and I are keen to stress that we have no plans to move from Milwich which has been our home for the past 20 years. It is with real mixed emotions that we leave the parish this summer. There is much potential for Mid Trent Churches and many exciting developments in the pipeline - we have developed many friends across our team of churches and whilst we hope not to lose these links, it is right to move on in my training.

It has and continues to be a privilege to work with the team in this benefice and we are so very grateful for the way we have been welcomed and supported. We still hope to retire in Milwich and to come back and serve the communities of Mid Trent in due course.

Please continue to support us and hold us in your prayers, we will certainly be praying for yourselves, the team and the beautiful communities of Mid Trent. In due course we will share the details of the ordination which will be held in Lichfield and an invitation is extended to you all.

With every good wish for 2019 and beyond and with all our love and prayers.

Derek and Lynne.

I am sure that while being disappointed at the news Derek will be leaving us later this year, we would all want to wish him every success at Trentham.
